Landy lost power on highway. Switched off and on after 5 mins. Noticed thick smoke from exhaust and right hand in bonnet just around air filter. Towed it home.

We need more info. Colour of smoke, noise? If its out of airfilter AND exhuast it could be head gasket. Check the oil, has it got water in or level gone up?

Problem solved , turbo replaced. The car is driving nice no smoke, only problem left is that the car is shaking you can feel the shake on the steering wheel and inside the car. The shake seems to disappear some time after a few minutes driving its basically on and off, just can't figure out whats causing the vibrations. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Start with tyre pressures just because its easy and gets rid of one possible cause. Then try wheel balance as its also worth getting done anyway and again it knocks another possible off the list.

Shakes when idling, its felt on steering. When i move the shaking stops.

Possibly injectors. Is this a new fault that appeared after the turbo was changed?

It is a problem that started after changing pistons, rings and valves. The shaking was severe then, we then changed the radiator , turbo and one injector that was overspilling. The shaking went down but still there . Today as i was driving felt a hesitation in the car while driving as if it was about to cut off. This has happened before and a few ks the above problems manifested. So i didnt drive far i took it home and parked and opted to drive to work with another car.

OK that's a much more complex problem. What was the fault that lead to the engine work?

Minor information, new piston valves and rings!!!
Does the clutch alter any of the shaking, could be dmf failing or pressure plate springs broken.

Valve dropped into piston . We decided to change related components.
Was the balancer shaft assembly locked in the correct position relative to the crankshaft, and refitted in the exact place when rebuilding the engine?
The injectors are supposed to spill, to a high pressure leak off system.
How did you measure this?

Hi again
We will get the mechanic to check balancer. The car drives well just that it shakes when idling. It also has hestitation like misfiring after we put injector cleaner. We replaced one injector after it failed.

It's in the sump, and needs locking to a set position, so it's accurately timed to the crankshaft.
