Service update!

Service went well, £540 lighter but the wrong glass turned up so it needs booking back in and i had to ring a cancel the tinter which was due after i had collected the car at 5pm!

Also got a little scratch for my troubles during the window strip down!

Should be cleaning the Sport tonight to check the body work so might take a few pics and post tomorrow. To be fair its in pretty good nick but i do like cleaning it.

Cheers

Hi,

Well as requested heres some pics from Friday after i gave the car a good clean and polish. Need to polish again and then wax but felt spending any longer on a friday night would have been frowned apon by the good lady.

It has been a while since I gave it a good mini detail, and it took alot more effort than normal. Im sure the wife and daughter have left their mark on it by now though lol.

Why do i spend so much effort on it?? Strangely i enjoy finishing, standing back and seeing what can be acheived with a little elbow grease!

Cheers

I'm wondering which baby gets the most attention!

I'm going to show your pics to my son, he has a Java Black V6 premium but, for some reason, it looks a little different to yours.:D

Hi All,

3 Year update.......

It went in for its 3rd year service & MOT yesterday.

I knew it wasn't going to be cheap as the pads were worn and the discs marked but hoped for the best.....

36000 Serivce = £531
MOT = £54
Replacementr Front Pads and Discs = £270

Total = £850!

Now on the plus note all the little creeks and squeaks have been gone, the clutch squeak was sorted on a quick visit as too was a door hinge problem so all good there.

On a darker note ive been 3 times regarding a small paint defect which seems to be a warrenty job at a cost of £130 but its been to ever man and his dog which is a causing me so much hassle and considering ive just blown £850 i thought they would bend over for the sake of a happy customer looking to extend their warrenty.

Im now considering a 3rd party warrenty and a non dealer for services so any advice on these matters would be great.

Anyway im not letting my empty wallet and warrenty issue spoil a fond relationship with our Freelander... :D

Cheers

Wish my freelander looked that good.

Independant landrover specialists are typically cheaper than dealerships and in most cases will do a better job. Don't be surprised if some of them refuse to work on your freelander though, this has happened to me, they don't like them.

Awesome job on the bodywork, stunning actually.

One thing I'm wondering is why the suspension is the same height as stock and not dropped like the Sport model?
I say that as the vehicle is on 18's but has massive ground clearance!

Mine is much lower than this one pictured.

Does anyone know if some came out the LR factory not lowered, or does this gentleman have a 2'' lift kit fitted?

Either way it looks fantastic.

Hi,

Thanks, its still looking clean, maybe a little cleaner too

It has the sports pack on and is a little lower but mainly stiffer. The car was new out the box. Did you get yours new or second hand?

The photo does make it look higher.

people, like me, who are too lazy to click on links cab see the picture above...

With regard to the expectation that 18 inch wheels should make a taller car, rennet that the size of the wheel rim does not necessarily affect the height, as the tyres are often of a lower profile.

10 Year Update lol

Well I've still got the Sport and she's still looking nice. Hit 60k the other week so hardly ran in. I use Stuart & Penny at Armson A E which is just around the corner to where I live and the service is fantastic.

Picked up a little run about for my work commute, so planning on getting the Sport back to show room condition.

Few recent pics:

Still love her, theres nothing id want to replace it with that wouldnt cost £30k for more or less the same feeling.

Happy Motoring

Paul

Those service costs are scaring me. Mine is due a service in a couple of months and hopefully solve an engine light coming on as well. I Better get saving. Nice thread BTW PaulN

A Freelander is cheap to service if you do it yourself ;)
Get the parts from the right place and you'll get everything you need for under £100 ;)

If you know what you're doing in which case I dont :(
Presumably you know how to put fuel in the car? Servicing it is about as difficult as that - just a bit dirtier.

Putting a car into a garage for a regular service is through choice/convenience - like paying someone to cut lawns or wash windows - everyone can do it easily themselves, but choose not to.

Granted, Freelander's a bit of a pain with the undertray, and major services that need timing belts (etc) are more complex, but "I don't know how to" (or "I'm not capable of") are not reasons to not to do regular services on your car.

15 Year ish Update.

My trusty Freelander is doing me proud.... now with 80k on the clock and my daily it’s no longer a garage queen but still looking nice and running well.

Just put a new set of tyres on which surprisingly while costly were cheaper than the last set!!!

Got to admit it still looks well after a good clean and trim & tyres dressed.

Here’s to a few more years together ❤️.
