Hi all,

First post as recently picked up my first Land Rover... a 2005 Freelander 2.0 TD4 as shown below.
Really happy with the car and just thought I'd post a quick pic of it to get some opinions on which way to go with it, so far I've only changed the badge on the bonnet... because for some reason it was half black half silver... and ordered some roof bars, very tempted to fit some bigger wheels and guards etc to be able to do some off roading but as I'm very new to this I'm a bit unsure as to where to start... any advice?

Roof bars received today...which took their time in coming... and had to be collected from the incorrect address which they were delivered to... thanks to Yodel! Will hopefully get them straight on today to see how they fit.
Also received today the Pioneer SPH-DA120 Stereo with Apple Car Play, which I'm looking forward to fitting... seems to be a good bit of kit! unfortunately wont have time to fit this straight away so this will have to wait a little while.

Now need to order a replacement spare wheel cover... any one know of any decent sites to get semi rigid covers at a reasonable price?

Roof bars now fitted :D Not bad for £25!

anyone fitted a universal roof basket to roof bars? and if so how?
Ideally looking for a defender style box expedition one instead of the little streamline things I'm finding on ebay.

Thanks, thinking now I may adapt something similar to the below Defender 90 rack to fit onto my rails... not sure how easy that's going to be and how well it will fit and look though

It is a very clean car, I'm very happy with it. Heard mixed responses about how capable it is off road so It'll be interesting to see how it performs.
Hopefully pick up some decent off road tyres for it soon... looking at possibly some Insa Turbo tyres.

Took the Freelander on a nice long run this weekend to Bath and Longleat Safari, even got a nice welcome from the monkeys...

Good job I was looking for a new spare wheel cover anyway!

Chris, very nice motor, almost identical to mine. Your ideas are also similar. Would like the roof cage, but out of my price range.
I wanted a similar look. Aggressive outside with a little luxury inside.
Apple car play is on my list, I'd like to see pics of that if you've done it yet.
The BFG's were on my list, but the Insa's are half the price.
I'm on 16's so can't decide yet on :
225/70/16 or 235/60/16 would like advice on any known problems.

Hi Wilky, Yeah they are pretty much identical! The only noticeable difference on the outside are your running boards... which i want to get fitted to mine soon!
Apple car play isn't in yet, I'll get some pics up as soon as it is though.
The Insa's seem to be good value for money from what I've seen and quite a few people seem to use them.
I'm on 16's as well and haven't decided on tyre size either yet, hopefully someone on here has some advice on which size they'd recommend...

Chris,
Maybe the wall height is lower on yours, I thought they were 17's. Great looking car, I've had mine since Jan 16, turbo replaced by garage free of charge as it failed after 6 weeks of having it.
Only mods I've had done so far is turbo pipes changed to silicon (easy job, but looks better) & added some LED strips above the headlights

You're completely right!... I hadn't actually looked and just assumed they were 16's, didn't realise they made these wheels in 17's until just now... better start looking at tyres again :D
