Hi
can anyone recommend where to get a decent replacement or mine reconditioned? i have it ready to pull out, i thought it was the gear box, but after turning the input shaft to my IRD it clucks and has alot of freeplay in, i see some on ebay but they are alot of money with no warranty, rather have a good 6 months warranty really, any help or advice will be welcome
thanks
jason

I got mine from www.worldofrover.co.uk they deliver or depending on where you are you could collect to save money, they are in Bolton Lancs.
I paid £400 for mine. I stripped it when I got it from them to check what they'd done and it had new bearings etc fitted.
I've had no problems with the unit. You'll need to give them yours as an exchange.

No probs, glad to help.
I don't know why they suggest moving the subframe, simply take the rubber damper & output pinion off the IRD, gives you loads more room and saves a fair bit of weight to have to lift up & down. :D

i managed to get it out with leaving the pinion on, brought it out arse end first, might not be so lucky putting it back as it is heavy, have been advised to run it on 2 wheel drive in case the VCU is damaged to, so will do that an reconnect in bad weather as i dont really need 4x4 anyway
cheers

Just want to warn others.
I looked through this site and read lots of posts from freelanderirdspecialists
Had a look at his website, looked good.
Sent him my IRD to be reconditioned, paid him £550 for reconditioning and a new VCU.
He gave loads of excuses for weeks why he had not sent it. Phone number does not work and he does not reply to emails or letters its been 4 weeks now.
I have reported him to Police and trading Standards and they are investigating.
Please send me a PM if you have had any dealings with him.

Had to buy a new IRD and VCU to get car on the road (not cheap)
