Hi all. I have a freelander 1 2006 facelift. Tyre size 225/55 r 17 .I need to replace all 4 tyres. I currently have Michelin latitude cross on them that I’ve had on about 5 years. I might be selling the car or part exing it in the next 6 month so don’t want to spend to much on tyres again. The Michelin cost about £120/30 a tyre now but I don’t want to spend that much. Has anyone used and cheaper midrange tyres around the £70/80 mark and could you give me your experience of them . Cheers

I had Goodyear Wranglers on mine that were discontinued here, rather annoyed as I only wanted 2, I just decided to go cheap.

Ended up with GT Radial MaxMilers that were 1/2 the price. They're aimed at van and run at 40psi so you feel the bumps more and they're noisier - but have been fine. Had them on 6+ years on our daily drive and just got an advisory that they'll need changing for the next WOF (MOT). Not sure if they'd do a 225/55R17 - I run 185/80/R15.

I've had some good experiences with budget radials. I avoid some makes, as they seem to perish quicker than others.

I've used Goodride SU318 H/T several times (I'm currently looking for a pair to fit my FL2), rating them above similarly priced brands like Jinyu, Linglong and Joyroad.

Look at the reviews for tyres, and choose those that are rated wet grip C or above. ;)
