hi all , while my mot is not due till april 2016 im wondering how they test the emisions on a diesel and same time rolling road test, seen a few conflicting thoughts so hoping a fewhave just gonethru these tests and can advise...cheers

All the Mot in the UK is looking for at present is particulates. It's a simple smoke test to ensure its not producing clouds of black, nothing more.
They are supposed to rev the engine up to the governor for this test. I've come across testers that don't rev to the governor out of sympathy for the engine.

regards the brake test ive been to local garage and he has a roller tester that has a dedicated 4x4 button the roller remote...it turns the back wheels opp direction..regards the 4x4 cat...if its fitted with one when made it has to have one when tested...hope that clears up any doubt...
plus with the egr by pass kit, in europe the egr is only there to remove nitrogen from the fumes, in uk we dont treat for nitrogen so removal of the egr is not a fail....

You don't want to have the wheels turning in different directions in a brake test roller, it'll trash the 4X4 system. A freelander and most other permanent 4wd vehicles have to have the brakes tested on the road, using a decelerometer inside the vehicle. This is the only way without causing damage.

Yeah that would trash a F/L - but might it not be right for a centre diff machine?
Mine was tested using a Tapley meter - cheez - it's 52 years since I last had that!

It would depend on the vehicle I guess. However it's best not to risk it. My Discovery 3 can't be tested in a brake roller. It has to be done on the road using the decelerometer. This applies to foot brake and parking brake.
