Hi Andrew, I have a FL1 just for kids to mess about with in field, shoot rabbits etc. I need a set of wheels and tyres, cheap as poss, not bothered about condition. If you know of any please let me know

15, 16 or 17 inch and do the tyres have to hold air!!!!!!
Also, postage could exceed the cost of the wheels!
From memory have got 4 x15 inch alloys and a 15 inch steel spare. £10 each. Not sure of state of tyres. Will check. Got a set of 16 inch triple sport alloys with tyres that are road legal but they would be more as very good condition.

Hiya, yes i need them to hold air as its basically our farm vehicle for towing stuff about and shooting bunnies etc, but wont ever go on road. I don't care about size or condition so long as they will work for our needs, and so long as I can afford em! I dont think we even need a spare actually so the cheapies might be perfect considering postage to go on top! if you could check on the tyres and let me know that would be great thanks

All tyres are poor. Wheels are fine. Looks like 2 hold air and 2 have deflated.
Stored for about 12 months. No noticeable nails etc.

Hi again!

So, have a good set of triple sport alloys with about 4mm tread worst case.
Very good condition so looking at £25 each for those.
Problem is postage. Had a look and each wheel and tyre weighs about 22Kg.
Overall size for each is about 85cm x 85cm x 20cm.
Most couriers won't touch over 70Kg.
Sending 2 parcels on the services I looked at, parcel hero, dpd, ups. Over £100 each!!

Have a look and see if you can find a cheaper courier. Or if you are passing again??

I will have a think and see when/if I can get up that way. Pallet would be only alternative and thats likely to be well over a hundred too these days!

Andy, do you have a definitely working FL1 fuel tank sensor/sender? The unit that goes under carpet under back seats into tank.

Engine type and age are important information.
The way it works changed about 2003 and the gauge works upside down if you mix bits up!!

Bit of info first!

Up to 2002 had fuel pump in tank with sender and another pump under the bonnet then on to the high pressure pump.
2003 onwards had a fuel sender in the tank and fuel pump under rear wheel arch then on to high pressure pump.

I have a spare pump / sender as new but not the sender only.

This is a 54 plate TD4. the VRM is BV54 GYB if that helps?
The fuel guage constantly shows empty. It's not the fuel guage/clocks at fault, definitely the unit under rear seats, not sure if that's called a sender or a guage. I know it's there because we were playing with the wires trying to find something producing 100ohms of resistance to fool it, but we couldn't manage it. The kid had his driving test yesterday (failed) and we had to remove clocks to put black tape over the low fuel warning light and wedge a rubber oring under fuel needle as we found out they wouldn't let him do his test if any warning lights on dash, whether fuel is a 'warning' light or not is debatable but I wasn't about to debate that with some self-important nanny state officers so we just covered it up! But we'd now like to actually fix the fault which we have been told (by a landy expert who knows the car) that it's the sensor in the tank which is faulty

Before delving into the tank, connect a 100 ohm resistor between green/black wire on the tank unit and a good earth point on the car.
This should show a Full gauge. If this doesn't work, and it sounds like you have tried it, then the fault is the wiring or the dash end.

Thanks Andy. The trouble is finding a 100ohm resistor! We tried all sorts of bits of wire, light bulbs etc! I really need an exact 100Ohm resistor but don't have one. If you have any suggestions please shout! I am pretty sure the sensor is knackered though. Did you say you have one? How much would that cost please? I am going to try and find a proper resistor to double check

Worth testing it as it could be a simple wire broken.
Easiest is buy a 100 ohm resistor on ebay. Or a pack.
That will check all wiring and the ipack display unit on the dash.
Sorry haven't got what you need. If it proves to be the sender, it is tricky to get out of the tank, then sometimes you can clean the contacts inside. The float slides on a variable resistor and gets corroded.
