Hi there. 1st post here and hoping it's in the correct place. I have a 2005 Freelander that I'm currently repairing. Having got a replacement door (rear passenger side) I went to change the door cards over but found the fittings don't line up. The original card has the window switch on the handle piece, the other one has it on the door card itself. Also the door release handle seems to be misaligned. Is there any way I can get the original card to fit the other door, or am I out of luck and needing another door?

Not without seeing your problem. Could you not see if the the door cards for the door handle are cut different which causing your misalignment. As for the switch on the handle are you able to transfer like for like or are the different in length too. As for where the window switch is on the card you could buy a blank plate.

It's a face lift interior, the replacement door has the older card. The only thing that doesn't seem to line up is the door release handle, one sits a little lower than the other. The wiring for the window switch should be ok as I've managed to swap window motors over already and that works alright.

There are some differences in the door shell at fitting attachment points, and the handles are different too, but I suspect you could make them fit. Have you compared the two doors side by side to see where the differences are?

Did you ever get around to finishing the conversion?

In the process of doing it myself at the moment.
