freelander 53 reg 1.8k series

my clutch pedal is pretty much on the floor when it bites

been looking through clutch threads and main problem seems to be master cylinder..

ive checked the plunger mounting bracket which is sound and the plunger operates...

what i need to know before replacing it all, is, how far shlould the plunger come out when the clutch pedal is pressed...it's currently about 15mm

cheers

The stroke of the cylinder doesn't change unless there is air in the system. If you can, bleed the system and that might improve things.

i thought the system was sealed....how do i bleed it?
I had a feeling there might not be a bleed nipple thats why i said "if you can".
Td4s are also supposed to be a sealed system but they can be bled successfully.
If the 1.8 can't be then you'll' have to renew the assembly. Provided the slave cylinder bracket and the clip are solid and secure there's nothing else that would give your symptoms.
