Hello,

My HDC light comes on all the time now, normally when I press the brake first, or going over 10mph if I pull away without using the brake pedal etc. It clears when I turn the engine off/on, but comes back.

I've replaced the brake light switch, checked there's enough slack in the throttle cable.

I thought there may have been a problem with the ICAV as when I took it off its very jittery in its motion.

Today however the TC light also come on, but only the once. Is there anything else I should check?

A generic code reader sadly won't work as it will only return engine codes (and these are largely aimed at emissions). A Land Rover specific code reader would be needed.

I am lucky as my pscan will read this data. I am not sure where you are based @RHILL1983 but if you are in London, let me know and I'll read the codes for you if you can get around to me?

The brake switch change works well if you have the "two amigos" (usually ABS/TC), but an isolated HDC probably points to another cause. If of any reassurance, ABS sensors and Yaw sensor faults tend to give you the "three amigos" - so I think the problem here may be with the HDC switch or selected gear switches (HDC works on 1st and reverse gears).

I think I may have the relevant section of the handbook that gives a fault finding list for the "amigo" warning lights - if I find it, I'll take a photo and upload it here :)

I'm quite interested in that PScan you have. Is it similar to a nanocom?

No experience with a nanocom unfortunately. It’s an interface box for your PC (I think it’s compatible with android, windows and iOS) that enables full access to all the car’s ECUs. For me it’s a no-brainer as it works on MGs and Rovers of this period - including Pre-EOBD compliant vehicles.

website is http://pscan.eu iirc.
