Hi Just registered and would like some advice.
Use to tinker on older cars but its been a few years now.
Unfortunately on pulling in to have an mot on my 04 freelander 1.8 petrol my clutch droped and stayed down. On further inspection i could see the problem in that the end of the hyd pipe connecting conecting to the clutch fork had sheared the plastic fitting.
the garage have advised me that I will need to replace the master and slave cyl as it is 1 part which has broken (I agree) also the bracket?
(on further investigation i can see it hasn bent) but they also recomend stripping the clutch cleaning around the fork and replacing the clutch as its off.
Reading various comments from many of you its just a case of repacing the hyd part am i right?
How do you know if you need to strip the clutch?
Should i be able to move the clutch fork by hand if so which way?
when fitting the new hyd pipe i have seen coments that you fit the new bracket locate the slave cylender then on activation of the brake pedal the plastic lugs will shear? are they there purely to retain the slave when not in use ?

Chris

clutch hydraulics are easy, comes as one piece kit, master, slave and all piping ready filled, 20 mins to install, but you need to ascertain whether clutch operating fork is not seized or seizing in bellhousing.

Should I beable to move it by hand?
does it push forward or pull back from its position at rest?
thanks
Chris
