Freelancer 2 tailgate lock issue

Suggestions welcome to solve a problem with the tailgate on my 2008 FL2. The tailgate locks automatically (and not intentionally) as you close it and won’t unlock on the central locking. The only way to unlock it is with the specific boot button on the fob.
Any ideas?

Thanks, I’ve since taken the whole tailgate switch apart. I have a feeling it’s the micro switch. When I disconnect it from the wiring loom and reconnect it, it unlocks but doesn’t operate after that.

Switch could be short circuit. That’s where your fault is then quite easy to change as I recall

Micro switch is a popular fail causing this fault.
