Hi
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what to do to cure my freaky wing mirrors.

I've got a 1991 Classic and sometimes when I stop (usually after a long run in a service station or garage) the wing mirror motors on both sides start up and tip the mirrors right back (so all I can see is sky).

The switch itself is not really working (worked a bit on one side but only to tilt down) so I replaced the switch but no improvement and they still start working by themselves.

Has anyone any ideas what could be causing this or how I could fix it as it's quite annoying.

Thanks

Dr W

If it's a Vogue SE, then you'll have the "memory" electric seats and mirrors. Try setting your mirrors and the seat to the memory. IIRC you just set them then press the memory button on the seat control panel along with "1" or "2".

My last '91 had them and occasionally the n/s mirror would just cycle up and down for no reason every now and then.

The memory module is expensive from LR, easier to get one from someone who breaks LSE's.

Check the "left mirror", "right mirror" toggle switch. I've seen examples where the contacts inside the switch no longer work, or work now and then. This switch supplies the power to one or other mirror motor (through the ECU if you have a memory).

The switch is easy to take a part (and put back) and if the contacts are bad then a quick filing will fix it.

Cheers for the info, I'll have a look at it this weekend.
Yes it is the Vogue SE.

I replaced the switch with one I found on Ebay and it was not much different although the drivers side mirror moved a little more than it used to but still not up and there is nothing from the passenger side.
