Hi all, I like have fun on forums and this looks like a good one to me. I notice I have managed to become a 'senior member' after about a month. Maybe the pooter has spotted that I am over 50 
Potted life history: born in Sussex, grew up in Berkshire (nice) and Sarfend Essex (bloody awful). Went to Rayleigh Sweyne grammar school, got expelled at 15. Started apprenticeship in Basildon (even worse than Sarfend). Joined RAF to escape. 2 yr Halton apprentice as engine fitter. Stayed in RAF for 7 years, and learnt to drive in SIIA's, all petrol in those days. Went to Saudi for a couple of years, came to South Africa, gave up aeroplanes and went back to school. Ended up with BA hons. Became computer programmer and DBA. Retrenched from that lot a couple of years ago. Now back to working with hands as a Land Rover mechanic.
Oh, in 1996 in a moment of madness I bought an AAD-assembled Defender 110 tdi CSW one year old. It now has 245k kilos on the clock and has never given me any trouble. It will outlast me as it has a galvanized chassis from new and nothing rusts here anyway, not even Ford Cortinas.
Oh, and I am a mod on 2 other LR forums, lr4x4 and landroveraddict. I use the same username on all forums.
