Reckon I can do the engine and conversion (mate at machine shop) £500-600 by time I bin the lexus bits via ebay etc

not even 2nd hand??
lexus has near full service history and complete car will be easier to transfer loom etc from. Reading on INTERNET it appears a shaft and 16mm plates required to mate to gearbox.
Also in the un likely event there is an issue stripping it will give good return on it.

Correct, will have to consider my options-disco rear axle for a start and
pad/disc upgrade if not calipers as well.
