Never driven one but was put off buying one because a man (who should have known) said they were the worst diesel transit engine ever and worse than the lr 2.5. He reckoned the DI was miles better.

Hi, i take it a york engine is a diesel? after 48 years of service my 1964 2.25 109 needs a slight overhaul. i wasnt impressed with the 75HP and being in third gear on hills when empty. i love diesel the smell the sound the torque. in canada it is like very expensive to find a diesel for a rover. i put a 1991 chevy 2.5L gas with 115HP THE ROVER CLUTCH BOLTS UP TO THIS FLYWHEEL! this engine is half the weight i can not only pull any hill in high gear i can accelerate up hill in high gear. my 109 has a 8.000LB conag PTO (however that is spelled) 3 12volt bat ...1 for the engine and 2 for the power inverter and is lighter then a stock rover by aprox 300LBS. i think this is the perfect engine swap for a rover.

Think it fits because the Chevy engine is a (slightly inferior) copy of the rover v8. If you can get a real one, it will probably be better.
