Has anyone else heard the new adverts for the Ford Ranger on the radio? Is it just me or are they trying to make out theve just invented the wheel (or rather 4 of them).

I have heard 2 of them so far, the first said:

"New Ford Ranger, now with 3T towing capacity" - My 13yr old Disco does 3.5T capacity (as does any Defender I'm aware of).

And the second said:

"The New Ford Ranger comes with limited slip diff, for a real mans adventure" - And how long ago did Landrover introduce the LOCKING Diff? and I seem to recall that the Viscous diff was on Rangies many years ago!?

I'm sure I'm just objecting becuase it isn't a Landrover but did Ford just keep some of the tech manuals form when they owned Solihull to get long words like "limited slip diff" into their adverts, maybe we should all go to our local Ford garage for a test drive and find out how many of the sales guys want to muddy their shiney shoes showing us how much they don't understand about the diff.

Seems to me to be pretty typical of all LR's owners over the years, taking more out of the pot than they put into it, and I doubt TATA will be any different. But lets face it although some manufacturers might do x,y,or z, a bit better, whether it's reliability or build there is only one LR and they're all playing catch up in delivering the ultimate 4x4 package.

I heard that one on Radio Gloucester this afternoon and thought the same as you, they are implying that being able to tow 3 ton is something new and wonderful.
False, should be prosecuted.:blabla:
