Was this an option, or are mine just broke?

I press the switch down in 0 position and nothing happens..??

Hiya

it’s was an option depending on trim level, what trim level do u have , does it have memory seats plse ,thks

Seen that if u fold them forward and spray with wd40 it can sometimes get them working again , or alas if that doesnt work, ie fuses etc , will be time for the multimeter

On my friend's LR3, he pushed in by hand both side mirrors and then pulled them back out again. Somehow that unstuck the fold motors and both sides started folding in & out again. Weird...

@gstuart beat me to it...

That happens if they have been whacked, or they have gone out of sync.
There several options for the mirror heads, heated, folding, memory and all three in one, the number of plugs and the wires in each plug tells you whats what.
Genuine head all options, 300 versus 150 for a copy, and plain jane versions much cheaper.

Fuse in glovebox OK. I shall get some wd40 next.

I can fold them in and out manually, and theer's not much resistance.. it doesn't sound like there's a motor connected to the action. Should there be some whirring sound when I move them by hand?

They should feel solid, then click unlock and move freely to the folded position when pushed .

By manually folding the mirror, you are unlocking a detent mechanism, which after an initial tightness (detent locked) the mirrors should fold easily.

The fold motor doesn't turn, when the mirror is pushed manually, the mirror head assembly simply disconnects (that detent) from the fold drive assembly when pushed. This is to prevent the fold motor mechanism from being damaged.

If it's not folding, either it's not got power fold mirrors (maybe they were changed to cheaper non fold in the past?). Or the fold mechanism is faulty, or the fold control unit has failed.
