Am about to replace my folding rear step which is old and bent. Assume the new one (STC7632) will just bolt straight into the rear crossmember - but why are they supplied with spacers? Old one was just bolted in to crossmember, no spacers just a washer.

TVM.

Daft thought - are they spacers?

Mine (genuine LR) came with both bolts, and threaded inserts for use where the crossmember does not have pre-drilled/threaded bolt holes

Made me wonder whether what you have are these rather than spacers? True spacers could make the step less secure, allowing it to twist under weight rather than secure against the crossmember

Hi there - the step has just arrived and you are correct - they are not spacers but threaded inserts that I do not need. Many thanks for your guidance!
