Fog / Spot Lights

Morning.

i been looking in the whole Forum but couldn't fined what I am looking for. lol

i am planning to add some Fog Lights and Spotlights on to my Range Rover.
how do you Guys done it. If?

i try to use some kind of Piggy Bag Fuse holders so i dont cut wires or tab into existing wires.
off course Relay switch and fuse etc.

just wondering how anyone else done it.

On the dse auto the gearbox oil cooler is behind the passenger side where the fog should go, so if you fit them you will have to think about the cooling aspects.

I fitted some behind the grill on my bus.
I piggy backed a wire from the high beam to trigger a relay powered from a fused connection to the battery.
On high beam tho' but no fog lights.

yes i seen it. there is a grill instead blanking plate.
i get some aftermarket ones so the should fit out the way/

I’ve installed both but many years ago, then they came as factory fitted and now don’t bother with my normal car.
Fog lamps are switched manually via a illuminated dash switch and relay and use as an alternative to main dipped beam in fog, fitted below or just above bumper level.
Spot/driving lamps are switch via a relay from the main high beam circuit only, unless off road.

The fog connections are probably still there, if a little corroded by now. Switched by highline BECM only though.

where can you get the wee plug that fits in the back of the switches?

Should already be there. Failing that, a scrapper.

I bought the switch from the bay and didnt come with the plug
And thank you will have a visit to a scrapper when lockdown eases a bit

If you are using the cars wiring, the plug will be on the wiring loom, if you are not using the cars wiring you could cut the plug off the wiring loom.

The switch is for to fit in the blank space on the dash so I assume there is no original plug there. Never taken dash off

There will be the plug for fogs there unless you have a low line BECM.

Even if you have lowline. It was on mine. Same loom on all models.

Mine had heated seats and windscreen and was Lowline. Memory seats need highline, I think. As do fog lights.

I think they must of used a right mixture as mine is highline but no memory seats or fogs.

None of the diesels were fitted with fogs and many did not have memory seats but still had the Hi Line BECM, mine is one example

I wish mine had the memory seats and the fogs i like the look of the late style fogs, one day if i find a set cheaper enough i will fit them, hopefully my rovacom light will be able to program them.
