the keys, if they arelike the range rover, will only work if they are sent to germany to be programmed by the manufacturer!!

the keys on fleebay are virtually useless!!

to get one for a range rover, with the correct coding and guaranteed is around 130 quid!

find a local auto key cutter who knows his stuff if it can be done they will do it ,im sure locky locks mobile bloke and his lap top would doit round our way, done a few vans fors us.

it may be possible but the general consensus is dealer or not at all, they are a high security, high end car(at least the rangey was when new back in its day) lets face it, if you had payed 50k for a car and 'locky locks' can just pull up and program a key off the local flee market for a tenner you wouldnt be too impressed if the car went missing would you!!! well i wouldnt anyway. do check tho as the disco may be different from the rangey!!

this thread http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/discovery-2-td5-v8-alarm-remote-key-fob-blank-key-48526.html seems to confirm it.

these people offer the service but at that price i would go to main dealer as theres not much in the price and the dealer will supply you with a perfect working genuine key set!!!

Don't know if this is any use to you ?

DISCO 1 -Open the bonnet and ask the assistant to hold down the bonnet switch. Either get into the car and close the door, or wind down the window and stand outside.

NOTE: If you vehicle is fitted with a separate immobiliser, switch it off - as if you were going to drive the vehicle.

Instructions 1 to 7 must be done within 8 seconds!

1) Switch ignition ON
2) Switch ignition OFF
3) Lock doors - using sill button (press down)
4) Unlock doors - using sill button (pull up)
5) Release bonnet switch
6) Switch ignition ON
7) Switch ignition OFF

If the alarm is correctly accessed, the horn will sound and the red alarm LED will light and stay on. It is now possible to programme the key fob(s).

NOTE: A maximum of 2 key fobs can be programmed.

Carry out instructions 8 - 10 within 2 minutes.

Press and HOLD down button on the first key fob until the alarm LED flashes a few times
9) repeat instruction 8 for the second key fob
10) The alarm LED will go out if both key fobs have been installed correctly

NOTE: If only one key fob is programmed, after instruction 8 turn the ignition ON and OFF to finalise the programming.

DISCO 2 -The problem I had with one of my ignition keys losing its association to the vehicle BCU has been resolved. For those who may experience the same problem, perform the following CAREFULLY:

1. Open the ignition key fob and remove the circuit board and battery in one piece.
2. Write down the 6 characters printed on the chip on the underside of the circuit board.

If you have another working key, keep it handy with the non-working key

3. Start Nanocom and select the Valeo BCU tab
4. Select "Utility" from the left pane
5. Perform an RF test with the working key. A success message will be displayed stating the key number
6. Select “Key Inner Codes” from the left pane of Nanocom
7. Click “Update” to display the codes stored in the BCU
8, Enter the number from step 2 into any of the key fields, except the field which is the one for the working key identified in step 5
9. Click “Set Code” next to the field you just added the key number from the non-working key.
10. Click update and check the new number was written to the BCU
11. Perform the "Key Sync" function
12. Disconnect Nanocom and check that the key works

This can also be done to add new or replacement keys to the BCU. I must thank Nanocom Support for guidance with this process. Their Spanish to English translated instructions were not as clear as the instructions I have supplied above.
