Hi,

Has anyone else experienced the issue below or is there any advice? I originally posted in the general section but another member suggested I post here and that batteries and a resychronising might be required. Might this be right and how much could this cost?

I've just bought a 58 plate Freelander2 and the fob socket has to stopped working properly.

One of the two key fobs is recognised and starts the car OK when in the socket but the other fob is no longer working. On depressing the fob in the ignition to remove it, nothing is happening and I have to manouvre it out the socket.
Neither fob can lock the car doors and act as though the buttons on them no longer work, yet the immobiliser appears to be working.

If one key works in the key dock , then the key dock isnt faulty.

If one key is being rejected by the key dock, then i guess that key isnt programmed to the vehicle or is completely dead.

If you manage to change the batteries on a FL2 plip, let me know :) lol.

They charge in dock. They say drive it for 15 minutes with the key in the dock and it should be charged enough to operate plip functionality.

I'm going to have to guess 2 faulty keys? Unlikely as it sounds. Might be worth having them be reprogrammed at Dealer.
 
I know its an old post but if buttons don't work but car starts when in dock it could be just dead battery. I have just opened fob and replaced battery - locks and unlocks doors now!

If anyone wants to chance me opening their fob and replacing battery I can try, if it doesn't work well only cost of battery - if it works quite a saving

Just changed the battery on the doris's FL2 if it's been successful I'll post a "How to" :D
