Do you do much off road at all i go with my brother to a pay and play his got a pumped up land rover disel. Wots the quote botton for mate? Is it not the same

IM THE SAME I WONT TAKE MINE OFF ROAD IT JUST MESSES THEM UP I WENT A FEW TIMES IN MY LAST ONE BUT ARFTER EVERY TIME SOMETHING WOUD BRAKE SO NOW JUST GO IN MY BROTHERS BIT MORE MADE FOR IT I SPENT £650 GETTING THE AIR BAGS CHANGED ON MY LAST ONE AND HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT IT TAKES 20MIN EACH ONE TO CHANGE AND THERE £15 EACH TO BUY OFF EBAY I TRY NOT TO LET ANYONE WORK ON THIS ONE DO IT MESELF:rolleyes: AND SAVE LOTS ....JAMIE

No more mods on mine it's all sortred now and even the book symbol on the aircon has gone off now since Keith used his faultmate to diagnose the problem have been using the car for a few off island runs and it is working the best ever with 121k on the clock is just now run in and going so well just want to keep driving.

Fitted two new front tyres and had the wheels balanced now drives very well on 22" stormer wheels never seen off road or maybe the pavement outside the hotel last night it's not my thing just need a comfortable motorway express to do long stints in and lug kit around and that's what my P38 does for me very well, it's been a fun project for two years doing the mods i wanted for my own satisfaction of ownership.

could afford to get a newer one but to be honest didnt want to have lots of cash tied up in a car that only gets used for weekends and off island trips to Uk and France and as long s she keeps going well will stick with her as the stle of the car and the drive keep making me smile.

hi tony sounds like where in the same boat as at a push i could just about aford to buy a new shap rang rover but thats where it stops for me becos when it brakes down would not have the money to fix it and it will brake down and £400 a year tax so ill be sticking with wot iv got. if you do the work your self the p38 is as cheep as a escort to fix some part even cheeper:)... i brought 22"wheels for my last p38 five wheels brand new. for me they was not so grate london,s full of pot holes speed bumps but on the motoway like you use yours i think there a must have much better grip
but im going to keep the 18" wheel this time round

hi tomcat59alan..lol it dont take much mate. im shoure your a top bloke and well all get on just fine.. are you doing anything to yours.or had anything done ..when listing wot i was planing to do with mine it is going to be done over time im not a chavy boy racer.im just looking to get the best out of wot iv got and was just hopeing to meet people that have done the same sort of mods find out the do.s and donts someone pointed out it will be to stressfull for the auto box to deal with? il have to look into that but think it will be fine as there lots of p38.s with over 200bhp.. p38 holand and holand run 216bhp and lots more do but dont know if thats with uprated box or not ill have to find out...anytips welcome thanks jamie:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I reckon that's a 4.6V8 with the ZF4HP24 auto box rather than the ZF4HP22 fitted to your diesel lump. An uplift to 160bhp did for the box on mine. The torque limit of the ZF4HP22 is 300Nm and it's torque that kills it. Gearbox failure on the diesel is a common problem, even as standard the torque is near the limit for the box.
 
jamie,neve rmind moding mine,keeping it opening,starting and running in standard trim is work enough(see my posts for the last two months).wiskey and prozac are the only extras needed.kind regards alan:fencing::dance:
 
by the way,ive got a range change motor going spare which you could have had for the price of the postage,but you know what you can do now dont you

ok. wot your saying makes total sence i think the gear box is a big let down its all ways in the wrong gear but have found with that bit more power it is better. am i stuck with that box or can i do something about it.im not even shoure it would fit but if it would do you think the box out of a bmw 325d auto would be set up a bit diffrent maybe a bit quicker.. thanks jamie
