Hi, I am a new member and just aquired my first Freelander living in Spain.

I have a Freelander 2.0 DI with removable rear top with 120K km. The gear stick is not precise and floppy making it difficult to find gears. It has had a new clutch fitted recently by Land Rover dealer. Any suggestions to reapir. Also is it possible to buy replacement fron seat covers?

lever loose on you nob . Lift your garter and have a look
I am picking it up on Friday and will check. It is one owner from new with full Dealer service history reg 30/11/2001. Would you expec this problwm? I test drove several and they all seemed to have the same problem!

mine feels like a sloppy transit too, Im told its the universal joint, but have as yet bothered to fix it, you get used to it, there are kits on e bay to replace it

Thank you Thor1950 and essexpestcontrol for you replies. I had a quick look on ebay but could not find the kit. Any idea waht to search for as I have a friend on his way to UK and he could bring it back for me as car parts in Spain are expensive.

You can use the gear linkage repair kit for the Rover 45/MG ZS the bushes used in those are pretty much the same as the Freelander ;)
I fitted this in my 1.8 Freelander a few years ago.

Also have a look at the roll pin that holds the gear change rods on to the gearbox linkage
mine fell out completly and I lost all the gear selection.
i replaced it with a 10mm bolt and nylock nut.
Have a look in the search area for more details

Thanks for that Nodge 68. Do you know if it would be the same for 2001/2 td4 2.0 di?

Will take a look edge when I get it home.

The kit is not compatible with td4 2.0 diesel unfortunately Nodge68 and can't seem to find a kit on the internet.

Sorry, my mistake. That was what the dealer advertised but is a TD4. Badged on the tailgate.

I e mailed the seller as my year/model came up as not compatible, but he reckons it will fit, and that price, I'd take a chance on it
Contacted the Czech guy advertising PG1 kits on ebay
and he says not compatible with 2.0 td4 diesel as completly different gearbox. He has had quite a few enquiries and looking for information which parts are failing and then will look at a new kit.

Just look and see if it is a pin or bolt come lose, any parts store would have them, a bolt or roll pin, just got to be the right size. If it is bushing then maybe have to use landrover parts

Hi Guys, Thanks for all the advice. I have now got the Freelander and driven it the 120kms home. It drives perfectly and the geat change is actually fine. I think that the new clutch just needs a little adjustment as I neede to push the clutch to the floor to get a smoth and easy gear change.
