Hi! I have been lurking around this forum for a while but this is my first post here on this great forum.
I need some advice about a gearbox. My last gearbox was shot as it was running without oil for around 10 000 km. ( workshop forgot to put oil in after a clutch and flywheel replacement). I managed to source a used gearbox with only 80000 km. Took the car to another workshop to have it fitted. Now the workshop claims the new gearbox is broken and need replacement. As it wont go in third, fourth or fifth gear. First and second is fine. They suggest a problem with synchro rings. I find this strange as second gear synchro is always the first to get worn out. I also find it strange that all three gears should have a problem. This leads me to think this is probably a selector issue, Either in the shifter or in the mechanism inside the transmission.
Anybody who has some pointers or had a similar issue? I do not want to take the gearbox down for the third time in six months.
