Hello all.
I have been reading posts on here for a while but only registered this week.
I am hoping someone can give me some advice, along with a few insults about my stupidity, regarding flood water.
I have owned a 3 door TD4 Freelander Sport for a couple of years now without too many problems. Over the past couple of years I have at times driven through flood water ranging from 300 mm to around 500 mm with no problems.
Last Friday 14th Feb however drove through water on the same roads that was no deeper than before, around 400 mm with the following happening.
As I came out of the water the vehicle lost power and stopped.
I rolled to side of road but engine wouldn't start, had a clicking sound from starter motor.
Left the car for about 1/2 hour and walked to work short distance.
Returned to the vehicle and remove air intake pipe from inner drivers side wing to moulding on-top of engine. Engine then started without any undue noises, but plenty of white exhaust gas, (I think may possibly have been steam.) So drove short distance to work with no problem.
Left for about 8 hours then reconnected air intake and started OK ready to drive 12 miles home. On the way home seemed to loose power and not want to go faster than 30-40 mph.
After around 10 miles seemed to pick up power and get up to normal speed.
Have driven to work each day since but seems to have a flat spot below 2000 rpm

Any thoughts from anyone much appreciated.

Welcome.
This is the introduction section. Where you , as a new member, tell us a little about you and your vehicle. Which is nice, and establishes a community feeling in new members. Rather than the smash and grab approach for advice, in a first post.
Technical advice can be found in the relevant forum. Just go to main board and look for Gaylander,

Ooops I mean Freelander. ;)

thanks for the welcome and apologies for the lack of etiquette. I am a bit new to actually posting on forums.
Once again apologies.:oops::oops::oops::oops::oops:

Don't worry too much about it. It's just easier for you to get the right help , if you wander into the right forum. Many from the technical forums, never venture out of them. So they may miss your post.
Good luck with your issue :)

Always good to see a p38 owner picking on freelanders. Tis a shame it dun't know how to fix yer freelander. Bit of a surprise a p38 owner (its actually a big freelander) would do this considering their own vehicle is scared of water.

Yer probably got the air filter wet and/or clogged up.

It's best to stay out of water if yer can as the mud, sand and clay in it fek up bearings and oil seals. If i were to get washed away in flood water and die, i would want it to be in a freelander anorl.
