Hi guys

Looking at fitting a 200 / 300 disco rear axle soon to my 2.5td 90 ( 200tdi ) and noticed the rear flexi brake pipe for a disco does all disco 1's and the defender 90 flexi pipes tend to change from year to year so depending what axle i get does anyone know what flexi pipe i need to fit a 1988 90 please :)

When I put my Disco axles on my 1989 90 (2.5td 19j) I made up all new brake pipes and used stainless +4" hoses to suite. I also made up all the brake pipes in the system and used the same fittings overall to make it simpler in future.

IIRC it's mostly the pipe brackets, going from chassis to flexi, that are different. The 90 had smaller bracket holes which also had to be moved slightly, I that might have been fronts too!.

Cheers paul yeah i can get my bro to make us up some new brake pipes as he has a flairing tool but it was the flexi pipe that i am worried about as reguards length and the ends of the pipe for connecting it to the T-piece and to the main brake pipe i assume the ends would be the same but the lengths would be different

Right, sorry I didn't notice, 'cos I was changing to longer suspension at the same time so just went with a stainless +4" flexi!

I do now remember having to cut the 90 brake fitting off at the rear, hence why I decided to just go ahead and re-make the whole system!

What I do know is that on the Disco the standard flexi was enough for a 2" lift so long as you moved the three way brake pipe fitting upright, basically spun it round on it's mount and I think it was very similar on the 90, but just wouldn't undo.

The old 90 axles are on the Disco now, just to move it around, minus the rear brake pipes!!! Hand brake works though .. which is more than the 90's most of the time .. :)
