Its a BMW part! What do you expect! Everything made by BMW is an arm and a leg!

My friend is a LR engineer and said he can buy them through LR for £20.....strange that LR sells them for a hefty £140 no thanks to BMW ownership!

After fitting the new unit - it makes a difference the remote works at better distance than before and (it seems) to have a little more power in the mornings

we had minus 8 this morning two blasts of the heater-plugs and fires immedietly (although starting has never really been a problem) except when almost flat

PS is it a genuine BMW part i.e. used on other BMW`s? - if so if someone can supply me with the BMW part no i can do some digging here locally to see what the BMW equiv csts in germany


PPS on the point of BMW ownership beware the way things are going youl be sourcing your future LR /RR parts from Bangalore or Mumbai

Glad its working like it should! I told you peeps it would!

Abe, have you upgraded your RR's alternator yet? If you haven't, do that next...cost is about £120 odd for 120 amp version or if your flush get a 150amp. Again, it really will improve the RR's electrical performance.

The P38a's measly 80amp certainly isn't up to the job as the RR has far too many electrical goodies that simply drain the battery and put a huge strain on it which in turn weakens the battery and you will find you'll need a new one far too quickly. If your RR has, like mine, the heated front screen as well, it's imperative you upgrade to the 120 amp minimum. During the winter months each morning you put on both the back and front windscreens, heated seats, aircon/standard heating, stereo, lights etcon, it will simply cause the battery to strain leaving your battery in a poor quality state.
