Morning wade

price i was quoted was

"
> Thanks for the email. YWY500170 costs 119.77 GBP + VAT + carriage. We
> would need to order one in for you from Land Rover factory.
>"

they recon 2 days to order & then a few days for the post

have a nice one

Abe, I thought you were in Belgium? doesn't that mean you get it VAT free? Also, peeps, make sure you don't pay more than £140 inc VAT...the price as Abe quoted is £119 plus VAT NOT as some suggest £140 plus VAT...the cheeky gits....

Hiya Adam

I wish!

will pay UK VAT unless I was belgian vat registered - (BTW belgian vat is 21%)

spares generally for the LR range of vehicles are generally a lot cheeper accross there as youre not paying middlemen (importers)
The postage is a bit steeper - but if its big stuff i use one of the parcel services
i had a main recon-box from ashcrofts ship 18months ago for the 300tdi and it cst something like 60quid or so saved me about 200 quid against sourcing one locally in the benelux

hail the power of the internet - cetainly makes sourcing parts much easier & cheeper

PS i tried to source the RF reciever from a local indi supplier in germany came in at Eur 241 at 1,40 conv rate its 172.15 quid without (pick-up price)- cheeper to get it sent from the UK

PPS I keep a house in belgium & "work" mon-thurs in Frankfurt

hi.. i have been having the same problem with my RR. I have had a brand new bosch battery and a 150 amp bosch alternator fitted. Occasionally my battery loses its power and after being jump-started its ok for a week or so then the problem happens again. This only ever seems to happen when the car is up my driveway. As i have wi-fi and several people in my street do,can i assume that this is the problem?

thanks Alan

Sure is Alan! You can bet you have the original part AFR1953 fitted.....YWY500170 will cure it.

And if like me, you have a new swanky battery and a 150amp alternator, you see a transformation instantly in reliability and electrical performance.

this is my rf. can you tell what model number it is? RF (3).JPG

Thanks for that Abe I have now got one on order from rimmerbros, same price as yours! Brings the whole price inc vat and delivery to about £150.

Bighammerman, I think I can answer your question, The general opinion is you cant tell just by looking, but If you leave it unpluged for a few days you should notice an improvement in battery performance, but you will have to put your remote up to the rear right window to get in and out!...Its a good idear to renew the batterys in the remote first. Things should get better quickly because the reciever wont pick up other signals easily, and so wont 'wake' up the ecu and drain the vehicle battery. Good Luck.

many thanks. i have unplugged it (do i need to unplug both plugs?) and i will see what happens

I don't think that's right, I think what people have suggested is disconnect the aerial from the RF receiver not the RF receiver from the security system.

For a £55K car, being tight and not upgrading the RF receiver for £140 is madness in my mind. It's still a RR and still has the running costs of a RR.

i have just ordered my new part (ywy500170) is it just a case of plug in and off you go or is there anything i should do before installing it?

I think its fine just replacing it, but make sure your battery is fully charged otherwise it will lose sync with the security system and you will need to be flat trucked to your nearest LR garage....cost £200.

Damn WiFi. I've had two flat batteries in the last week. Never had the problem since I had the car until now. I have Wi-Fi and I know two close neighbours have too :(

Yeah, it will only get worse as more and more neighbours get Wi-Fi. Even a simple weather station RF signal will drain your battery....my mum gave me one of those for Xmas last year.....found out it was killing my RR and dropped it straight in the bin.
