flat battery problems

getting really ****ed off with battery going flat,had battery checked ok? charging ok. somebody suggested locking sytem not ****ting down properly,left it unlocked started ok, locked it next night started ok, goes ok for a few days then flat , charge up ok for a week , then goes flat again.charged again ok for 2 days,flat again this morning, doing my f-----g head in.radio went dead about a month ago, had repaired & refitted. seems to have had problems since then. could radio be draining battery, or shorting? heeeeeeeeeeeeelp neeeeeeeeeeded.thanks for any advice.:censored:

....i think its a remote sensor......do a search.

Had the same problems last week & the electrics were being woken up by wireless signals, I have disconnected the remote receiver aerial & that "appears" to have sorted it.
The only downside is having to unarm the car by holding the fob by the fuel flap.

Its in the boot under the RH side parcel shelf. There is a small multi plug and a large connected to the receiver, disconnect the small one.
If you have an auto, the park LED glows faintly when the electrics are awake, with the alarm set.
You can see this at night if you look thro the window. Bear in mind that if you unlock/open the doors it will come on anyway.

im having the same problem, so if that park light glows dimly when the car is locked, that means there is a problem? And when you disconnect the remote reciever ariel this park light should no longer light up when the doors are locked? Im only asking because im sure mine lights up dimly when the doors are locked.

it will light for a time then go off after the car has confirmed its locked for the night and no movement inside the car has been detected or doors opened etc. the rf reciever is a common problem and disconnecting it will confirm the fault. also there is a thread on landy zone with a picture of how to regognise the faulty variety of rf signal and the non faulty variety.

best thing for the OP to do is check that all the wires are in tact and not shorting behind the console. and then try the rf reciver.

I put the up to date receiver in my 95 P38 and still the battery goes flat every week unles you drive the car every day. It is more than ****ing me off and some c*@# has stolen my battery charger from hallway of our flat. Now have a range rover stuck in the road until I have time to go to Halfords! Plus....brough a new battery last week and it still went flat after two days arrrrgghhhhhhhhhhhhh.

try pulling front heated screen fuses mine and one other had this

Had this fault too!.....Mine was traced to bad connection on horn circuit behind the airbag. Water had leaked in through the screen and dripped onto the steering wheel shorting the remote controls for the radio and horn. Removal and a good clean up, spray with WD40 and everything has been good again!.......and of course seal the leak in the windscreen!

I too, had the same problem, fitted the latest RF Receiver,& checked that the BECM was going to sleep ok, but still had a drained (new 110A) battery.
My Wi-Fi, garage-doors & gates operate on the same 455mhz frequency, maybe that has some effect.
Completely solved now however, I bought a 2.5w solar panel/charger, £26.00 off e-bay, sticks nicely at the bottom of the screen/dash, out of line of sight, permanently connected & it seems to keep the battery fully charged quicker than it self-drains, started easily during recent low-temps at 0530 mornings !! well pleased!!

you sure you dont mean yer baby alarm works at that frequency ? - wi-fi is 2.4GHz and above

I changed this receiver too, two years ago. Also found old (not since I've owned it)water damage to becm. Becm was salvaged at a cost of £600!

Alarm would just keep waking up.

I found a good auto elec to trace for power drains after all this and found nowt. But if its left for a week its flat as a fart. I've just learned to live with it and still need to replace batteries every other year.

i know vauxhalls work on 433 mhz too so if you got one it could also be that setting it off!

Oh dear, another senior moment, its NOT the Wi-Fi, but the electric energy monitor thats on 433mhz 24/7,no more then 3 metres from the car, anyway, the solar panel on the dash has got it sorted now!!
