Hi All

Went out to go to work in my lovely range rover (l322) and tried to unlock the car and nothing!! opened the door manually with the key and the alarm went off!! tried to put the key in the ignition to turn the alarm off and nothing its completely dead again. So first thing i checked as usual was the battery and low and behold its only got 4v in it!!!!:mad: The car was working fine on friday not used it saturday or sunday come to it this morning (monday) and its flat as a pancake AGAIN, this is the 3rd or 4th time in 2 months, last monday it needed a jump start to get it going, you seem to have to use it every day to keep it going. Any ideas???? i have changed the final stage resistor and its had a brand new land rover battery but still something is draining it. Any ideas anyone??

Thanks in advance
Matt

Check that both your headlamp wipers work.

I had a dud one when I got my FSR replaced, so the mechanic pulled the fuse which feeds them.

After this, the battery drain problem disappeared, so not sure if it was the FRS or headlamp wiper motor which was the culprit and, to be honest, can't be arsed to put the fuse back in to see if the problem returns.

As a last resort, you should take it to a reputable auto electrician to trace the source of the drain.

Good luck!

Hi Matt, I seem to remember reading about an issue with the HEVAC running the battery down over a couple of days. I think it was due to one or more systems not shutting down properly after switch off and a fan somewhere keeps running. I also seem to remember there was a TSB about it. If I find it I will post it up..

Here you go.... found it

Hi Matt
Had the same problem, disconnect the RF reciever aerial at the rear offside above the wheel arch. I was picking up all sorts of signals which wake up the BECM. You have to stand nearer the vehicle for the key to work, I have had no further problems.
Good luck

Have the same problem . Mine was setting off alarm anything up to an hour after it was set , so ended up leaving it unlocked , although this then prevents system from” sleeping” , decided to unplug the bonnet switch , as suggested on here . It has now stayed unlocked without alarm going off !! Thank you . Also have found that the air suspension was “ locked” , and that turned out to be a fault in towing electrics loom . Unplugged it , and air suspension works as it should . I think this could also have had an effect on battery drain ..PS taking towing electrics fuse out was not enough . You have to unplug the ECU in RH boot panel .

@ 1.5W it wont do a thing, don't waist your ££ on it
Correct. I use 20 watt panels with a charge controller bought separately. In very overcast weather I'm lucky to see much more than 30ma for 6 hours in winter. Cost was less than £30 Keeps the batteries on cars not in daily use in tip top condition.

Have you got a link data
This is the charge controller I use, Ebay item 283096311917 cheap and works well I have 4 of them
I cannot find the panel supplier I used at the moment. It's a couple of years since I bought my panels, I need another so I will have another look later. I paid £20 but I expect they have gone up a bit at the moment.
The seller I used is not on Ebay at the moment, but this 20 watt panel at £27.95 is much the same as the ones I'm using 252116400626.

Think I know what my problem is at the moment I have a 5 min drive to work on Monday morning then the cars parked all week so I think lights and heater on for that short journey just drains the battery went to Scotland over Xmas no problems at all when it's running its charging I've already checked that

Short runs will kill the battery.
