Disco 1 Flash feature on light stalk

Is it a common problem for the flash feature to stop working?

Mine has decided not to work, but still clicks on and off main beam fine.

A quick search only revealed a little bit of plastic that seems to snap inside the stalk, but thought I would ask to make sure it doesn't have an independent relay for the flash feature before I buy a new stalk.

I am guaranteed problems in the next month as my MOT is due in March!

Nope and no relay as the stalk carries out the flash function.

Wazzis? 300 or 200 series?

Had issues with a stalk on a 3.5i v8 D1 (j plate) maybe 10 years ago but think that was a burnt wire

Its a 300.

Have found a stalk for a tenner delivered and seller confirms flash part works, so have ordered that and will go from there

New light stalk fitted tonight and I can now flash my lights again.

Well done Stu, was something broken?

It's the first time I've read of the flash function failing on the switch, its not unknown for the switch to fail switching dip/high beams, so I wonder when you are "flashing" it includes your roof lamps aswell as the head lamps, if so that could give an issue unless there is also a relay involved.

yeah, the stalk I reckon

I have separate relays for all the additional lights, so that shouldn't cause the stalk any issues.

When I get some spare time might open up the stalk and see what has gone wrong.
