This is a long shot, but I retrofitted a flappy paddle multi-function steering wheel to my previous Yeti.

I really miss them.

Do you think that it would be possible to retrofit some to an FL1?

Maybe fit an Evoke steering wheel.
 
Looking at this diagram you could maybes patch into the steptronic switch, I dunno if it'll work as a normal open/shut switch or a voltage modifying switch, would try it on a scrapper first in case it upsets something.

Thanks. This is looking beyond my electrical abilities.

I wonder if the Evoke MFSW will even fit to the steering column in my '06 FL1....
 
From what I remember, the gear lever still moves the cable to the box when the steptronic is used. Of course the box may well ignore what the cable is doing in that mode but it would need careful checking.
