Hi all I'm trying to find a snorkel for 2009 freelander 2 at reasonable price new/used can anyone point me in right direction please seen new ones on muddy modds but out of my price range.

More as back up and piece of mind since driving back from Scotland in sideways rain for miles and having a little bit of a judder then reading it could be water coming in through side vent, might never drive in rain like it again but just incase.

Does the FL2 actually use the side vents as air intakes?
Thought they were just decorative.
If it does, that doesn't seem very good design. Just driven through worst hail and rain ever today over Exmoor in my FL1, no problems. Most wet it has ever seen.
Probably need a snorkel for the boot cubby box though !!

The RH wing vent is decorative and blanked off, as the FBH would be sighted behind if it was factory fitted.

The LH wing vent is where the engine breathes its air from. It links with a pipe over the arch liner and into the front bottom of the air filter housing so the vent is fully functional.

Susceptible to water ingress in wet and windy conditions I would think?

It's not known to be susceptible to water ingress in normal or even extreme weather, and the side vent is well above the maximum wading depth.
There is also a drain valve in the bottom of the air filter housing, which is designed to allow any water out, in the unlikely event it gets in.

I think the issue would be the bow wave when you drive through water, which rises much higher on the vehicle than the actual depth of the water.

I would worry more about it coming through the sunroof on mine......:(
