Hi

For the leak, first the check the diff oil level, and top it if necessary.
There is too much rust and dirt you should clean it, you can’t see anything in this mess, easy to fix.

But certainly not you issue.

Hi,

Diff will make even more noise at speed if was in cause. Since it happens at low speed … and you have only a small leak, if the leak was important your diff will make a lot of noise.

Did you look at the propshaft ... I think in my previous post I speak about the driveshaft but meaning the propshaft.

didn’t know if it could be a failing drive shaft or something like that! And yeah I took a look at the prop, I could wiggle it from off to near side a few mm. Which I thought is just the rubber bits squishing a bit but nothing looked inherently wrong from what i could see, in regards to the vcu do i get a repair kit eg, the damper and prop bearings or do i need to get the actual vcu as well?

A few mm ? You should take firmly the propshaft before the uv joint and try to move it on the uv joint axis, it should not have any play, a small play can cause noise or rumble at low speed.

For the VCU support you should move it up and down, left to right and check the rubber part for cracks.

If your car is a manual, I'd say juddering when taking off is the clutch.

My L Series has been doing it violently for a few years on and off (mainly on). I'm surprised my engine mounts haven't gone. Clutch still works, no slipping and will pull the old girl up hills no problem, but judders like crazy if the revs aren't in a sweet spot when pulling away. Have to say, I don't notice it in reverse.

The post above about worn bits of the props missed the front diff support, but I agree, it's not likely to be them if you get juddering rather than clunking.
