Problem is people see Landrover written on a car and they think it means it can go anywhere and needs no maintenance which was never true of any Landrover, the Freelander is brilliant at what is was designed for and looked after will be as reliable as any other model. Don't be put off by Defender owners who tell you that Freelanders are gay either, they wear dresses at the weekend and need to look blokey during the week. I've had Defenders, Discoverys, Range Rovers, Series, and other makes of 4X4 and I can't fault the Freebie for day to day use, slippery muddy lanes and poor road conditions. If you want to climb up the sides of quarries and flatten ramblers you'll need a Defender though.

+1, more of an everyday car thats easy to live with, not an extreme mud plugger
