Hi all, One of my mudflaps has fallen off and I was wondering if anyone knows how they are fixed into the chassis? They seem to be bolted to the body work and it looks like the remaining one has been "nailed" on. I was expect a self tapping screw or something but it has a smooth round head.

Please help as I am more confused than normal.

they are fixed onto the brackets... whats fallen off, the rubber or the metal? you could rivet the rubber back onto the metal. bolt and nut with big washers? bracket... large self tappers.

Hi again, On closer inspection it looks more like a thin washer with a spike through the middle holding it to the chassis. I thought Coachbolt at first as well but there is no way to get into it to put a nut on. It is the whole bracket that has fallen off. It is the whole lot that has fallen off and I was also thinking big self tapper but I was just wondering if anybody actually knew how they were fixed in the first place. I have uploaded a couple of photos one shows how the remaining one is fixed and the other photo shows what is left on the other side.

Thanks for the help guys.

Think they're some kind of poppity rivet type factory thing. The brackets often rot before the flaps tear.

The bluddy things cost a forchoon too if you git the genuine ones. The bluddy brackets are pricey fer what they are n'orl (basically a piece of tin!)

I'd get a pair of aftermarket flaps (about 15 quid) & a couple of lengths of more substantial angle bar. Cut the bar to length, drill it to sooot, grind off/drill out those rivetty things and bolt the new ones on...............Thas' wot I'm gunna do anyways.

Thanks Marcus, I already got the flaps from craddocks eBay site. They seem to be genuineand complete with the brackets for about £25 delivered which I didn't think was to bad.

Thanks again

I understood 'pants' but have no idea about 'J Arthur'

The brackets seem to be good enough but I think the rubber bit would probably fall off before the bracket breaks. I do think your angle bar would be moe substancial but I tought this would save all sorts of fannying about by me.

I only lost the last one because the actual fixing thingy broke, the mudflaps were in good nick which is a pain.
