2003 Discovery 2:

Just noticed rear side panel side strip(?) lifting from the panel - see below. I assumed it would be held by clips, but it looks like glue/mastic?

Does anyone have a preferred repair option (adhesive)?

Alright then, can't access website yet. Will remove current mastic(?) and just apply some double-sided tape.
This is the key bit
After contacting 3M UK I got some of thier RP45 VHB tape. This is 1.1mm thick, 12mm wide and 33m long and £18.00 delivered.

3M,s instructions recomend surfaces to be bonded are first cleaned with Isopropyl alcahol. This is not available on the high street, but is about £5.00 a litre from ebay.

Thanks for all the advice!:) Held the trim on with duct tape (if it's good enough for NASA it's good enough for me!) for now, as when I was driving the strip continued to peel back due to air movement over it - don't want the whole strip to fall off on to the road somewhere!

I already have some IPA and I ordered the 3M tape through ebay - I got a 3m long roll of 15mm wide 3M VHB RP45 tape for AUD 11.33 (AUD 14.96 delivered to Australia from UK). Should arrive in a week or so. Did have some double-sided tape at home but the 3M stuff looks like it will do the job properly.

Of course the glue behind the strip was compromised in the first place by leaking diesel from the fuel fill point - fuel froths up and spits out now and again and dissolves adhesive holding the trim strip - need to check fuel breather next!

Strip has been stuck down for 2 - 3 weeks now, lots of hot weather, dust storm and heavy rain since then and it is perfect! Cleaned with IPA as suggested and then used two strips of the 3M tape (12mm wide); ideally if the tape was 1 inch wide that would have been perfect.
