Hopefully some helpful guidance if anyone encounters the same problem. (Sorry - no photos to make things clearer. Fixed at 7pm in a rush as the daylight faded)

Passenger-side door lock went from working fine to stuck (unlocked thankfully - which is more likely than locked) in the space of a 30 minute journey.

Solution: WD40 (first aid) and use of an "adjuster".

Problem: Not a great design - and then "flexible" assembly fit. One of the pivot-points on the the lever/rod mechanism that operates the lock rubs alongside part of the interior metal panel (in my car at least) when the door is locked/unlocked. As a result, it can get stuck against the panel - although it that happens, a firm turn of the key will likely move it. On it's travel, the pivot point passes the edge of the internal metal panel. Total failure occured when the mechanism started to become blocked from its full motion by the edge of the panel and would not move through to the 'lock' position by rubbing alongside the metal. Hence WD40 first aid.

How: Strip away the door card (very easy on this model - screwdrivers to lever trim and remove handles and one socket spanner for the window-winder) and turn the key to identify the stick-point. (Note - with the door open, you will need to push the door latch mechanism to "closed" for the key operate). At the foul-point, apply WD40 and if required "adjust" the metal panel edge so it does not obstruct the travel of the mechanism.
