in the unfortunate event that i have to change some bent valves would i be ok to put new valves in worn engine or would i have to somehow mate the valve shape to where it sit? I know "back in the day" there was a grinding paste used but would that not be for de-cokeing components?

Also anyone know if the L series has shims or hydraulic?

New valves in an old head should be fine! You just grind em in as if you were doing a decoke, no idea about the tappets on one of those tho!

never done a de-coke. shall just have to do it trial and error....hopefully with not much error!

Hope ur gonna try a pneumatic tool for rotating/counter rotating the valves as you grind them in. Those ash sticks with rubber suckers on the ends are a right p.i.t.a.

valves are allways lapped in unless you have seats cut by a serdi machine or similar ,once lapped you can tell if it seats all the round by lapping it again clean and dry and it will have a shiny line around were it seats ,but i would check guides first using some straight old valves
