True. You could argue the toss for hours on end. All in all it comes down to what you're happy with and what you want. I've gone from a 2.5 N/A to a 200TDi and it feels like I've got a deltic to my disposal. It even goes just as well as the 1.6 MK2 Golf that I had for a little while. I like the 200 because it's a good simple, all mechanical engine that's as close to a reliable, nippy tractor engine that I'll be able to get in a 90. The TD5 is a far more "refined" engine with a lot more torque and a lot more power, which is no doubt a thrill

but I don't like certain things about it. Put it this way. If LR had gone ahead and developed the conceptual TD6 (under BMW's ownership) without any electrickery, I'd have been green with envy! I just don't like electronics on engines
