Hi guys,
I have got a new rear step gas ram to fit on my Disco2 2001 TD5.
The old one had come apart so the rear step was always down. The problem is this: the new one is slightly too long at its extended position to make it possible to bolt it in at both ends and it is so strong that I cannot find a suitable way to compress it to get it to the right length.
I tried fitting one end, then using a jack under the other end to compress the little gas shock so I could get the other end in, but it is so strong that it pushes out at an angle instead. Sure there must be a simple way to do this, but I have not managed to find it!
Anyone who has done this care to share the secret?
Thanks!
David
