So I fitted my new Terrafirma suspension kit today. All went well an the ride is much less harsh. The kit I fitted was this one: TF213 - Def90 / Disco1 / RRC Suspension Kit

The only problem is now the steering is very vague verging on bloody dangerous!

When up to speed (about 50mph) the steering is so vague that to be honest it feels like the wheel is not connected to the front wheels at all. I have just replaced the track rod ends and the drop arm ball joint.

I had the wheel alignment done before I fitted the suspension kit. Do you think a second wheel alignment is in order to cure the vagueness? Or is it soothing more serious?

Looking at the spec for that kit you have fitted a 2-inch lift, have you also fitted castor correction arms or bushes because if not that will be your problem?

You also mention fitting new TRE's, was this done before you had the alignment checked or afterwards?

Don't need castor correction on a 2" lift. Did you take off the drop arm, if so check that is on as tight a you can get it and you have knocked the locking tab over nut and arm, Is your steering wheel lined up properly when your wheels are straight could just need retracking.get someone too rock the steering and look under and see if all is tight.

I,m the process of removing my 2 inch lift so i now yur pain of vauge steering.

The 110 i bought came lifted but didnt have any of the remidial action, cranked trailing arms/ castor corrected front arms fitted.

Having lived with it for a month the lift is going! The handling is horrendous, and as this spends 70% of its life on road, its not realy required. But my steering wanders and is vauge, plus the body roll is pump!

My wee 90 was standard and it went everywhere, plus the Wolfs i use at work go places many wouldn,t dare and they aint lifted.

So for 140 quid Famous Four have sorted me out with springs, far cheaper than changing arms and propshafts!

Thanks wickford90! I did as you suggested and found the problem! It seems that when I replaced the drop arm ball joint I can't have got the circlip in correctly and the bottom of the new joint has fallen out! It looked like it was in but it's is a right faff trying to compress it with a jack. I guess it must have fallen out as I was pushing the axel down to get the new springs in! I have to say I'm embassased! But thanks for making me check everything! I will get another tomorrow and have another go at fitting it.
