So i fitted a 2" britpart lift kit, my 6 year old reckons its sagging on the drivers side but i say shes imagining it, am i lying to myself?

Anyway, after removing the original rear coils which were badly corroded and looked factory items. I questioned what would hold them in place when full articulation ensues, I have just been looking at some pictures of rear coils and there was a picture of one with a retaining piece that the two bolts go through, first time messing with shocks on a land rover, am i missing the retaining plate or is the coil seat the only piece that should be there, 99 disco td5. thanks.

There should be a retainer of every spring.:eek::eek:

Definitely none on the rear, the rear looked like it hadnt been touched since the factory, Its just the coil spring sitting on the coil base plate which is bolted to the axle, no retaining plate/bar. :(

Theres definitely none on the front either.. Jesus, I'll have to get some.

Get some ASAP. If you hit a decent bump and the suspension unloads after the bump you could lose a spring.:eek::eek:

Dont say that, Heres me, smacking the big huge speed bumps testing out my new lift kit, nearly taking off in the process. :(

There was no retainers on the stock springs but it did cross my mind the likelyhood of a spring popping out with no retainers. Very strange, but so was the guy i bought it off. Not as strange as his mate though who had mascara on.... Cheers.

The front has No retaining as std the spring cannot come out because the shock moints through it. The rears Need bottom retainers:

PM638 | Heavy Duty Rear Spring Retention Plate 5mm (pair) - 90

They bolt through the spring pad to axle the plates fit through the lower coils. you may wish to roatate the spring until it feels secure then bolt up tight.

Yeh, the fronts cant be lost of course but could become dislodged from the coil seat under full articulation. Im just confused as the rear im 99% sure hadnt been touched since the factory judging by the rot on the springs/shocks and rubber rings which had completely dissapeared, yet no retaining plates. Thanks for the link to the parts, Will they fit a D2 though as its not in the list of compatible vehicles, im assuming they are all the same? Many thanks.
