Hi All!

New to forum and Land Rover ownership, have the pleasure of taking a Freelander 1 off my mates hands as he moved to the US. Have a few issues that have recently occurred and wanted to get some thoughts from the experienced community here:

Engine Bay- Oil Issue / Maybe Seal on Cap?: Today after driving, I had a quick look under the bonnet to refill screen wash and sort out air filter and noticed a pool of oil sat on top of the engine where the cap closes, sealant issue? Or something else? (can send pic)

Electrical Issues - Windows: Left hand side, no windows work, motor whirls and the windows don't move. Assuming just come out of the runner / guide?

Rear Window: I think it may just need recalibrating(?) and not need an auto-electrician (hopefully), but the rear window doesn't work and naturally this impacts being able to open the boot. I try to use it once the car is started but I get a short beeping sound.

Have a Haynes Freelander manual on route....so can address some minor aspects!

I'm sure by looking around these are very common but good to get any insights!

Thanks,

Sam

Pictures of the oil leak would help
Windows are a simple fix and Haynes ?
Much more useful reading on this site
The time and effort let alone the money the kind people on here have save me
Is enormous

Biggest risk with oil cap leak is high pressure due to blocked crankcase breather filter. Worth checking as it can cause turbo seals to blow too!

Hopefully it is just messy oil filling in the past and / or a leaky cap seal.

Nice, not ideal at all al! Will check. Window recalibration, I'm assuming even if I can't disarm the alarm I just need to disconnect the battery and window drops etc. And follow steps I've seen on other threads...

Oil leak, 2nd that for crankcase breather filter, mine was the same until changed it.
Windows, cables fray and break. Complete mechanisms available from ebay. Easy change, just a bit awkward to get out of the door but they do come out.
Buy complete not just the cables. I'd get one for the rear window before you open the door or drop the window and poss cant get it back up.
