Ok guys here is my next job. Eeek I have been putting this one off. I have to replace the clutch & Fly Wheel. This is going to be interesting I have never done anything like this before. Any advice will be greatly received. Onwards and upwards. I am learning so much from you all. What is the best T/wrench for a dude on a budget. Taking into account the t/Values on a Freelander.

Hi plattyr56 I hope to have acsess to a workshop, but that is not set in stone I may need to buy a pair of wheel ramps.

Axle stands will be more useful than wheel ramps as front suspension has to come off. Good jack or engine crane required as most of the bits you are taking off are heavy and prone to hurting you if you break their fall. Another pair of hands will be useful as well.
To be honest not sure this is the best job for a first attempt though.

It's possible to do at home on the driveway. You can even get away with not using an engine crane or support beam, these can be supplemented by some stout timbers of various thicknesses.
A good high lift trolley jack is a must though as are some sturdy axle stands.
Be warned, this isn't an easy job as so many heavy, awkwardly balanced items need to be removed!!
Good luck.

Ady014. It is in at the deep end I am afraid as there is now way I can afford to get it done by a car mechanic. So I will have to crack on and work hard. I will have a spare pair of hands though. Thanks for the advice Nodge68. I will invest in some axl stands and borrow a high lift trolly jack. I will keep you all posted. On the up side the tailgate wheel bracket has arrived and is now fitteed. all is working there. :)

Good attitude to have. Just read up, research and take your time. Got a clutch alignment tool? Not sure if the td4 needs one but better to find out before you have it in pieces. I am sure Somone on here did a clutch change in their garage on wooden blocks/sleepers then used them in the garden afterwards. I haven't done the td4 clutch yet but I believe the ird is a bit heavier

rHi Kizzeh, thanks for the support. I have a landrover clutch alignment tool on order. I haven't been able to find an old TD4 transmiton shaft out of a broken Gear box anywhere to use as my alignment tool. I will take it steady and I have been watching lots of video footage and reading my Haines manual in great detail. If you or anyone else have any other good bits of advice or links to YouTube footage of this please will you let me know. As I reLy value your opinions. 😊
