Hi all

Picked up the new landy from LR N1 City last week.

What a pleasure to drive - miles apart from the Td5, SWAMBO & I could actually have a normal conversation while doing 110kmh on the highway!

Not to mention that our salesperson is probably the prettiest LR salesperson you will ever meet

Yesterday had the Mantec snorkel and the EMS2 system fitted:

Hi Nakkiran

The Puma outscores the TD5 in most area's:
6th gear is great for motorways, cuts down on engine noise a lot
The heater is much better, get's to temp in half the time
I don't know if LR have tweaked the suspension but it seems to absorb bumps and pot holes better.
T/C, ABS and A/C all nice to have.
The mid row seats are much better for passenger comfort and safety.

On the negative side the Ford Duratorq rattles compared to the mighty TD5!

I haven't bonded with the Puma as I did with the TD5, time will tell.

Cheers

you must be a little guy i find there is no room in um with the new dash ,fuel consumtions way off .
as to the suspension think you'll find its just its newer and tighter (my td5 90 56 plate is only slightly less so than the new 1 i drove on loan) hated it could'nt wait to get me td5 back ;)

Maurice, that's probably because it sounds more like the contractor's Transit van than a bespoke LR engine :D

I must admit, I do miss the clatter of that tractor-like Td5, but when driving long distances, I will NOT miss it.

On the way from picking up the landy, SWAMBO & I commented on how we were able to have a normal conversation while doing 110kmh on the highway - something impossible in my previous double-dab td5!

Hey,

I saw these pics when you posted them in another forum on the 12th. Nice Landy!

I have those side steps on mine. I seem to remember Sean critisising them saying a worms fart makes them fall off!!!!

Lovely Landy Naks..... maybe a personal q but price wise are they dearer or cheaper on the road after taxes than the UK?

All cars are more expensive in SA than in the UK. You would not believe it, but most RHD BMW 3-series are made in SA, but the sticker price is more here than after they are shipped in the UK.

The sticker price on a new Puma 90 is currently R352K, approx 30,000 pounds?

Hi guys,

An update on the landy with the camping kit bolted on. We leave in 2 weeks' time for a 5500km trip around Namibia :)

Also replaced the standard headlamps with Wipac units, LED lights inside, LED worklight on the back, BFG AT's, etc.
