Yep after 3 years she is finally on the road.
She came from the Belgian army and left the factory as 4x2 !
(24 volt model)
That's why i got her for cheap 2800 € (nobody wants a 4x2 Land rover) but converted her then to 4x4 ;)

When i got it

engine bay

For this conversion i needed a second transfer box and a front axle .

I then put lots of time in overhauling the engine ,brakes ,replacing gaskets and so on.... here are some more pictures...

4x2 transfer box

After 2 month of arguing with the Luxembourgian MOT , she is finished :)
And will take part of a land rover off road event this weekend :)))))
I will join the land rover club then :)

Good work. Inspiring to see it back on the road, especially for those staring down the barrel of a 3 year project!

Bloody well done indeed!

Any chance of a pic of the old fromt axle? Wondering how thwey eliminated the diff - assuming it was just a great lump of pipe with swivels mounted on the ends.

ajr

Beautiful! What are the lumps between the sidelights and indicators? Perhaps forward-firing machine gun barrels? ;)

They are black out lights , used a lights that only could be see when you were right behind . There was no chance that planes could see you :D

That was the front axle :)

Did you keep the old axle and transfer box? Just thinking if you ever do decide to sell it can be put back to hw it originally was as there arent that many 4x2s around

hey mate, being a 24 volt its a pain in the backside, ok do you have charge light coming on ? or when you turn the lights on when you rev it do they get a bit brighter check your volts at the battery side should be 28 volts if the generator is charging as it ought to check your earths (remember its a land rover ) but have a look around check your ammeter behind the back of the battery box check to see if it reads as charging and see if the black reset button on top will do the trick

hi there , the strange thing is that i don't have a charge light at all :( it only has an ammeter in the middle of the dash board ( next to an oil pressure gauge) which could show you if she is charging.....
Next thing is that the voltage doesn't reaches 28 volts ( even when accelerating and 2 new batteries)
Checked the cables with an multimeter , they look good....
What i think could be the issue is the voltage regulator ( box behind the radiator grill) ????? But I'm not sure. Will have a look maybe friday.
