Filler cap & MOT

I lost my standard disco 1 filler cap (or rather, I forgot to put it back on and drove off without it :doh

I have since bought a generic one from a petrol station but it says it's for temporary use only. It fits nicely and it was cheap but if I rolled over, I'm sure it would pop out. Will it fail an MOT with one of these?

if the flap is locked MOt tester can't do **** about it..

There are 2 different plastic temp ones. The solely push in if I remember right is a fail. There is a plastic push in that has a big screw in the middle to lock it in place, that was passable (maybe an advisory though).

Eer think you'll find he can it's a testable item, most fords need the key to open the bonnet does that mean the MOT man can't look under the bonnet :doh: no i don't think so.

Fuel cap is a pre-test item - ie if it is missing, not removable or inaccessible then it's a "Refusal to test".

It's one of the things that VOSA frequently try to catch testers out with on their bait cars.
