I have some 16" alloys which I believe are the origianl factory spec wheels, the car in my opinion looks a little top heavy and have considered getting something a little bigger, may be 18 or 19"., just so the car looks a little more updated and balanced out.
I know that the later model alloys which are these sizes have a different fixing arangement where i need a spigot and some new nuts. I looked on ebay to see what there is and there seems to be a couple of companies selling them as kits, spigots nuts and locks for about £70-90. I thought this was a bit steep!
has anyone else done this upgrade recently? Where did you get hold of your accessories?

I recently changed to 18 s and I got my wheel nuts and spiggot rings on Ebay. Type in covertwiseguy into ebay comunity it will take you to his shop. next day delivery the locking nuts are very good value.

i fitted the "prosport" 18"alloys to mine, there like the hurricanes but without sloted spokes, was a straight swap using the origonal nuts!

I am confused. I just measured mine and they are 19" but they are proper Land Rover wheels. Would these have been fitted by the previous owner or are they standard on a HSE/Limited edition from 1998? Or could they have just been an option? Or as a final option am I measuring them wrongly? It is too dark to read what it says on the tyre wall.

I used covertwiseguy also replaced hurricanes with wheels and tyres brand new from Range rover sport bought them on ebay cheaper than i could buy the tyres for the hurricanes - barmy heh

From your avatar the wheels look like the factory option triple sport alloys (i think thats their name). P38's shipped with 16" wheels but then changed to 18" towards the end of the production (i think it was when they did the 99 face lift). In which case someone probably just upgraded to those wheels on your P38. I would assume with those being factory option wheels you wouldn't need the spigot rings with them.

I would be more worried about your spare, when I bought my P38 someone had upgraded my wheels all to 18" hurricanes which was nice but left out the spare in the upgrade. Of course I was on holiday when I had a puncture with no spare wheel that would fit. At this point I decided to keep my eye out for a spare hurricane going on eBay and picked one up for just under 50 notes with a good factory Goodyear Wrangler HP 255/60/R18 tyre. Of course that wont fit in the spare wheel well so I had that tyre off and got a cheapo 255/55/R18 tyre fitted. Everything now fits nicely in the spare wheel well and no more worrying about getting a flat.

Hmm. When I looked this morning the tyre said 18", but when I measured it last night the actual wheel was over 19" (Maybe my finger slipped on the tape measure as I walked back to the house). Luckily my spare is the same type of wheel.
